Maryland Craft Beer Competition Returns September 26

The Maryland Craft Beer Competition is back, giving breweries across the state another opportunity to showcase the quality, creativity, and range of beer being made right here in Maryland.

This year’s competition will take place on Saturday, September 26, at Oliver Brewing’s new location in Anne Arundel County. Charlie Harr will serve as head judge, bringing additional experience from his role as head judge for the Virginia Craft Beer Cup.

Important dates:
 

Brewers may enter up to 10 beers, and the entry fee is $50 per beer.

The competition will again feature the following 20 categories:
Pale Ale; American IPA; Specialty IPA; Double IPA; Juicy, Hazy or Fruity IPA; Sour Beers and Wild Ales; Smoked or Wood-Aged Beer; Fruit Beers; Spiced Beers; Pale Lager and Pilsner; Amber, Dark Lagers and Bocks; Amber Ales and Brown Ales; Porters and Stouts; Wheat Beers; Belgian-Style Beers; Specialty and Experimental Beers; Session Beer; Strong Beer; Historical Beer; and Local Ingredient Beer.

New this year: 

BAM has secured funding to offer each gold medal winner a stipend of up to $300 to help cover the cost of entering the winning beer into the Great American Beer Festival Competition or World Beer Cup. This is an exciting opportunity to help Maryland’s award-winning beers reach a national audience - and to show just how much exceptional beer is being made across the state.
